The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Miss Tolulope Abiodun Odunaiya, officially assumed office on Monday, November 18, 2024, pledging to prioritize the welfare of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
During a meeting with PTAD’s management and staff, Odunaiya expressed her commitment to building on the foundation laid by her predecessors and the staff whose efforts have elevated PTAD’s reputation. She emphasized her vision to create an environment where “every individual feels recognized, empowered, and motivated to contribute meaningfully.”
Addressing the importance of pensioners, she stated, “Pensioners are the backbone of our country’s history and development, having devoted their time, skills, and energy to building the Nigeria we inherit today. We must transcend personal interests and unite around our shared goal of improving the lives of pensioners who served this nation selflessly, often in challenging circumstances.”
In a statement released by Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of PTAD’s Corporate Communications Unit, Odunaiya reaffirmed her dedication to pensioners’ welfare, saying:
“It is both our responsibility and honor to ensure pensioners receive the care, respect, and timely entitlements they deserve. Their sacrifices must never be forgotten, and through our collective efforts, we can reaffirm their value to the nation and make their retirement years fulfilling.”
She also aligned her vision for PTAD with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of efficiency, accountability, and compassion. “By prioritizing these values, we will contribute to a nation where every citizen feels valued and supported – especially those who dedicated their lives to public service,” Odunaiya added.
The new Executive Secretary promised to usher in a collaborative era for PTAD, one driven by unity and shared purpose to achieve meaningful outcomes. She concluded by highlighting her resolve to improve processes and outcomes that benefit pensioners.
Following her meeting with the staff, Odunaiya toured the departments and units of PTAD to gain firsthand insights into the administration and ongoing processes at the directorate.
Miss Odunaiya succeeds Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, who served as the Executive Secretary of PTAD from August 2019 to November 2024.
