Zamfara State House of Assembly has summoned two former heads of service of the state to appear before it to give testimonies on the alleged diversion of billions of naira through contributory pension schemes.
This was made known by the Director-General, Press Affairs and Public Relations of the House, Alhaji Mustafa kaura, in a statement on Saturday.
The House said “billions of naira belonging to the state’s civil servants was siphoned through the contributory pension scheme in the last nine years”.
It disclosed that the Chairman of the House ad hoc Committee on Pension Fund Administrators and Deputy House Leader, Nasiru Bungudu, had already sent the invitation letters to the affected persons.
“Their invitation became necessary in view of the fact that the committee considered them as strategic and therefore heavily relies on them in getting some vital information that would tremendously assist the committee in getting to the root of the matter,” the statement added.
Those that have been served with invitation letters are the former heads of service, Alhaji Muhammad karakkai, and his successor, Alhaji Muhammad Isah, as well as the managing director, Royal Rocks Consultants, which audited all the 11 pension fund administrators.
Other invitees were the past and present union leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress that served from 2005 till date.
Bungudu called on the invitees, whom he described as imminent personalities in the state, to honour the House’s invitation on the stated date and time to avoid impeding or jeopardising the work of the committee, an action he considered as great disservice to the state.
