Jigawa pays 200 retirees N331.7m retirement benefits

The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme has started paying retirement benefits to 200 retirees.

Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu, the scheme’s Executive Secretary, revealed this to reporters in Dutse while speaking about the board’s actions.

Those who resigned from state, local council, and Local Education Authorities, he added, were the beneficiaries (LEAs).

The payment included retirement benefits, death benefits, a death pension balance, and an 8% contribution refund, according to Aliyu.

According to the executive secretary, 83 of the recipients were from the state service, 72 from local governments, and 45 from LEAs.

According to him, N331,698,679.62 will be paid to the 200 recipients.

He promised that the state government and the board would continue to ensure that retirement payments were paid on time and in full.

He disclosed that 47 recipients from the state service would receive N99,709,300.88 in retirement benefits, 52 from the local council will receive N72,653,344.43 in retirement benefits, and 22 from LEAs will receive N26,756,781.76 in retirement benefits. 15 state retirees would receive N38,721,150.32 in death benefits, 14 local council retirees will receive N27,270,456, and 18 LEA retirees will receive N47,645,102.

Nine recipients from the state will also receive N9,184,100.32 in death pension balance, six from local councils will receive N1,613,361.61 in death pension balance, and five from LEAs will receive N6,895,301.26.

In addition, the state would pay N1,249,781.04 to 12 beneficiaries for an 8% contribution refund.
