The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the well-being of its retirees. This was revealed in Uyo by the Executive Secretary of PTAD, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme during a two-day Stakeholders Forum and the introduction of the “I am Alive” Confirmation Solution, which was organized for the South-South geopolitical zone.
Ejikeme added that the online application was created to allow PTAD retirees to prove their aliveness from the comfort of their homes or neighborhoods utilizing a smartphone or computer system.
She highlighted other efforts so far taken by the Directorate to ensure the wellbeing of its pensioners was sustained to include Mop-up verification throughout all geo-political zones undertaken for pensioners that missed the field verification exercise previously due to one reason or another.
“Despite the lockdown in 2020, PTAD continued to pay monthly pensions promptly, resolve complaints, and even cleared accrued arrears, death benefits to some Next-Of-Kin, and one-off payments of some defunct agencies such as the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), Ex-workers of Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), and some NITEL/MTEL pensioners,” she said.
“As a result, we’re working with several of our stakeholders, including the National Health Insurance Scheme, the National Senior Citizens Center, and the Federal Ministry of Health, to see how we can make health insurance a reality for our retirees.”
“We will continue to prioritize the welfare of our retirees, and we ask for the help of the Pension Unions under the Defined Benefit Scheme, as well as other stakeholders, in attaining this goal.” We just released the “I am Alive” Confirmation Solution today.
“The whole point of this system is that we want to make sure it gives us accurate results while still being convenient.” Above all, we want to make certain that it will be user-friendly for our senior residents. This is an experiment, and we are using 50,000 retirees in the pilot phase to undertake this trial.”
She assured that the “I am Alive” pilot phase, which had already been launched in the North Central zone, would be replicated in the Southeast, Southwest, Northeast, and Northwest zones, with PTAD deploying the software on a full scale for all verified pensioners on the payroll if the pilot was successful.
Pensioners, on the other hand, do not need their bank BVN, ATM card, or pin for the confirmation procedure, according to her, and simply need their Pension number, which can be found on the verification slip provided by PTAD, and the account number with which they receive their pension from PTAD.
