We have paid over N35bn in pensions and gratuities since 2018 – Gov Oyetola

Adegboyega Oyetola, Governor of Osun State, announced yesterday that his administration has spent approximately N35 billion on the payment of pensions and gratuities to retired workers in the state since 2018.

The governor also hinted that the administration had consistently released N509 million on a monthly basis to cater for pensioners under the old pension scheme, while not excluding those on the contributory pension scheme.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuously improve the standard of living for all workers by making their well-being a top priority.

Oyetola made the remarks after presenting bond certificates to some state retirees at the Staff Development Centre, State Government Secretariat, Osogbo, as part of a special lecture organized by civil servants through the office of the Head of Service to commemorate Osun 2021 Civil Service Week.

The governor, who urged bondholders to be prudent in spending their hard-earned money, said it is incumbent on them to make good use of the resources by investing in productive ventures that will benefit their families.
