Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa Commits N1.2bn to Settle Retirees’ Gratuity
In what appears to be a welcome development for retirees in the sunshine state, Governor Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved a sum of N1.2 billion in the bid to address the outstanding gratuities of the 2014 set of retirees from Ondo State’s public service.
This decision aims to fully offset the gratuities, providing much-needed relief to the retirees.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Press Officer in the Office of the Head of Service, Sina Adeyeye.
Governor Aiyedatiwa is set to initiate the distribution of cheques to beneficiaries during an event scheduled at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
The move follows the successful clearance of gratuities for the 2013 set of retirees in the previous year. Additionally, a portion of the 2012 set of local government retirees’ gratuities has been settled along with those from 2011.
Sina Adeyeye highlighted the commitment of the Ondo State government to addressing pension-related obligations, stating, “This is apart from about N320m monthly, totaling about N2.7 billion yearly, that the government has set aside for the settlement of all other categories of the pensioners’ benefits.”
The approval by Governor Aiyedatiwa underscores the government’s dedication to honoring its financial commitments to retirees and ensuring the well-being of those who have served the state.
