Takor Ivor, Director of the Centre for Pension Rights Advocacy, has advocated for the inclusion of micro-pension in the ecosystem. He tasked the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and operators with raising awareness in order to drive the process.
Ivor revealed over the weekend that workers would not come to pension operators unless they were engaged, and that the micro-pension plan was developed to unlock the informal sector, and that the goal could only be achieved through regular engagements.
Former Director-General of PenCom, Muhammed Ahmad, stressed in a recent paper delivered at the third annual Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp) and National Assembly retreat held in Lagos that the pension and insurance sectors of the economy needed more attention.
Ahmad then pleaded with pension operators to help informal sector workers plan for their future by enrolling them in the micro-pension plan.
Speaking on the same subject, Wale Odutola, President of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria, stated that the growth of any industry can only be ensured by constant dialogue and communication among key stakeholders, adding that over the years, PenCom and the operators have built a strong stakeholder engagement framework, which has significantly aided in the growth and development.
