Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has approved N1.2 billion to offset pension arrears of retirees in the state civil service.
In a statement signed by Head of Service, Mr. Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade, N508 million of the total sum was approved to pay the pensions of retired civil servants, while an additional N150 million was approved to pay retirees under the contributory pensions scheme based on merit and N549,266,000 for primary school teachers and local council retirees.
He added that additional N50 million was approved for the part-payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pensions scheme.
It was also stated that payment of the approved funds would commence Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
