The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has initiated an extensive computation project to resolve issues related to gratuity and death benefits for verified pensioners and deceased pensioners’ Next-of-Kin (NOK).
Dr Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary of PTAD, announced the project in a statement released by Mr Gbenga Ajayi, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The primary goal of this project is to address the long-standing complaints from pensioners and the NoK of deceased pensioners who have experienced delays in the payment of gratuity and death benefits, even after undergoing verification processes.
Ejikeme acknowledged the challenges faced by the NoK in receiving timely payments, citing the meticulous scrutiny of their documents as a crucial factor. This scrutiny aims to prevent the misallocation of funds to incorrect beneficiaries. Additionally, delayed responses from organizations where deceased pensioners retired have contributed to the payment delays.
In explaining the expanded project, Ejikeme emphasized its role in categorizing and evaluating all verified NoK files. The initiative seeks to identify and remit payments to all eligible NoK and pensioners with outstanding gratuity payments.
The PTAD Executive Secretary urged Next-of-Kins of deceased pensioners, who have undergone verification but are yet to receive payments, to register their complaints by emailing nokcomplaints@ptad.gov.ng. This avenue will facilitate the investigation and resolution of their concerns.
This project reflects PTAD’s commitment to addressing the grievances of pensioners and their beneficiaries, ensuring that all eligible individuals receive their entitlements without unnecessary delays.
