PTAD opens a new pensioner office in Ibadan, Promises to open Ondo office to soon

For retirees in the Federal Government Civil Service, a fresh lease of life has begun with the opening of the new Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) South West office in Ibadan. The Directorate has also launched an online application tagged “I Am Alive Confirmation online platform” for easy access to retirees’ pension payments.

Ejikeme, together with other officials, officially opened the PTAD office at the state’s Ministry of Establishment Secretariat in Ibadan, promising that another office will be built shortly in Ondo State.

Regarding the newly commissioned office in Ibadan, Ejikeme applauds Governor Seyi Makinde for providing office space for retirees within the state secretariat, complete with modern equipment for the pensioners’ convenience.

She stated that efforts are being made to open a second office in Ondo State to alleviate the stress of pensioners in the zones who had to travel to Lagos for verification exercises and other reasons.

Dr. Ejikeme also revealed during the forum that PTAD had on December 14, completed the payment of all outstanding 126 and 129 months liabilities due to ex-workers of two defunct agencies, Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation and New Nigeria Newspaper Limited respectively.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic-related lockdown, Ejikeme stated that they have continued to pay monthly pensions on time and have attended to all other matters.

“Despite the lockdown, PTAD continued to pay monthly pensions promptly, resolve complaints, cleared accrued arrears, paid death benefits to some Next-Of-Kin and one-off payments of some Defunct Agencies.

She also disclosed that PTAD implemented the agreed 9.7% pension increase for defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria pensioners in December 2021 and as a result of the consequential adjustment to pensions, Ejikeme stated the increase took effect in June 2016, and the accrued arrears were paid along with the six-month balance of the arrears.

Ejikeme stated that they have concluded the payment of arrears accruing from President Muhammadu Buhari’s approved consequential adjustment of pension to three of the four operational divisions.

She stated that the civil service pensioners still are still being owed three months in arrears, which will be paid as quickly as possible.
