Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, has stated that implementing the SERVICOM Charter will result in better and more efficient pension administration in the country.
She emphasized that the importance of the document cannot be overstated, especially in light of the appalling conditions that pensioners have faced in the past. Ahmed, speaking at the launch of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate’s (PTAD) Service Charter in Abuja, praised the agency’s pursuit of service excellence in pension administration.
SERVICOM is an acronym for Service Compact, and it is a federal government initiative aimed at promoting effective and efficient service delivery in government agencies. It aims to ensure customer satisfaction and to manage the performance expectation gap between the government and citizens and other members of the public.
Mrs. Chioma Ejikeme, Executive Secretary/Chief Executive of PTAD, stated that the agency remained committed to providing quality service to defined benefit scheme pensioners.
She went on to say that the document was carefully crafted to serve as an internal policy that would guide both staff and pensioners on service delivery standards. She stated that PTAD had been working on the SERVICOM in preparation for the charter’s unveiling.
Ejikeme also said SERVICOM is, “like a stamp to what we are doing. The charter reels out what we stand for; the quality of service we give, timelines associated to the quality of service so that our pensioners can hold us responsible when we don’t do what we’ve said.”
She added that PTAD is committed to ensuring the integrity of the pension administration system so that pensioners are rest assured that their entitlements will be paid accurately, fully and on time.
“The charter is expected to evolve as the organization grows and as changes occur internally and externally,” she added, adding that “PTAD will remain responsive to pensioner/stakeholder feedback and their changing needs.”
